FIBER ARTS GALLERY
Visit the Fiber Arts Gallery, located in the Hall of Agriculture, and experience an abundance of talent in all things fiber related. We will exhibit beautiful hand spun yarns, knit garments, woven, crocheted, felted and hand hooked items. Members of the Golden Fleece Spinners & Weavers Guild will be in the Gallery offering daily demonstrations and the opportunity for hands-on learning and to answer any of your questions. You can try spinning, weaving, felting and more! When you visit our display area in the Hall of Agriculture, you will also have the opportunity to talk with growers and producers who raise fiber animals including sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas and rabbits. Those of us with farms love to share stories about animals that supply our fleeces. Learn how a raw fleece is transformed into yarn or felt, and then taken to the next level where it is made into a piece of clothing or art. The Golden Fleece Spinners and Weavers Guild was founded in 1989. Our mission is to bring together those interested in fiber arts to share knowledge, experiences, creativity and love for the fiber arts, and to have fun. We advance our mission through monthly program meetings, workshops, events, newsletters and spirited conversations. Membership is open to all those who are interested in fiber arts including spinners, weavers, crocheter’s, knitter’s, felter’s, and dyers. All levels of expertise, both craftspeople and artists, are invited to join us We hope you will participate in “The People’s Choice Award” and vote for your favorite item in our Gallery. The guild is looking forward to another year at the Schoharie County Sunshine Fair! |
