Did you know New York State has nearly 12,800 cattle farms with 1.4 million cattle and calves
overall, including almost 110,000 beef cows supplying nutritious, wholesome beef to
consumers?
The beef industry is one of the top five agricultural sectors in New York with 92% of New York
beef farms being family owned and operated. These hard-working and dedicated men and
women tend to their cattle all year in preparation for the Schoharie County Sunshine Fair.
Beef cattle exhibitors spend countless hours working with their livestock, feeding, washing and
teaching calves to walk in the show ring, to present their cattle to the best of their ability on
show day. Be sure to swing by the show barn to see their hard work on display!
